Dress your Home for Real Estate Success!

It is important to remember that you are selling your home, not your stuff. You want to take yourself out of the picture and let your house shine in its very best light. Potential buyers need to envision themselves living in your space, and you need to give them enough room to do just that. Creating a fresh and welcoming environment will make them feel right at home.
  1.  Start by decluttering and depersonalizing your home. Don’t let your personal belongings distract buyers, and hide your home’s real potential. Remove family photos, refrigerator art and magnets, and personal items in bathrooms. Store and consolidate smaller items into boxes and stack neatly in closets. Use just enough furniture to define spaces, but still leaves room to breathe.

  1.  Clean your home thoroughly, including windows inside and out. Remove all evidence of pets and make sure your home smells fresh.  Ask a friend to come over and give your home the “scent test”.

  1. Paint has the biggest impact for your money. It is the best way to update and refresh a room.  You can’t go wrong with a neutral shade of white that has both beige and gray in it. It goes with everything.

  1. Don’t forget the outside.  Curb Appeal is your home’s first impression.  Define the entrance with a freshly painted door and a pot of flowers. A new and sturdy door knob gives the impression of a solid home that is well maintained.
